Northwag News update for 12th April 2017
Today we met at The Lenchford Inn for a meeting. Top of the agenda was our planned Open Day at Winnall Mill as part of the Council of British Archaeology, Festival of Archaeology. We intend to show folks around the mill remains and the more recent discoveries. To save the guides having to walk down and back to the car park with visitors, we have devised a self-guide walk plan.
The choice of two walks will be provided with plenty of visible direction signs. Dotted around the site there will also be information panels at salient points of interest.
After lunch some of the members had a walk to where we thought the site of the Weir Inn used to be at the base of a quarry, and the end of a long straight path through Shrawley Wood.
Below are a selection of photographs taken at the Furnace last week.

In this photo you can see a brick floor surface. Are we inside the cottage yard?
