The North Worcestershire Archaeology Group has a continuous and wide-ranging fieldwork program throughout the year. Most archaeology societies are unable to do practical fieldwork but we work closely with the local council to ensure that high professional standards are maintained and that they receive all of the reports from our work.
If you would like to become involved with our work, please fill out the form below which will be compiled into an email and sent to our Membership Secretary. Most of our members are amateur archaeologists but we also have several professionals in the Group. You do not need any previous experience as we will train you in all aspects of archaeological fieldwork that you will need for our projects.
We do have a nominal annual subscription fee (£5 to £15, depending on your requirements) which is used to pay for site and personal insurance policies as well as essential equipment and supplies. None of our members receive a salary or any expenses - all of your money is used for archaeological research. We don't just send you out a newsletter every few months - you do the archaeology and write the history!
Please note that we can only accept applications from persons over the age of 16 as, generally, we cannot allow minors onto active archaeological sites. Please see the FAQ section for more information about why this is the case and about how young people and children can take part in our work.
We look forward to seeing you out in the field on our excavations or in the archives helping with research!
